The Bundeswehr Institute for Microbiology in Munich has for the first time in Germany unequivocally identified the monkeypox virus in a patient with characteristic skin changes.

On May 18, two more cases of human infection with monkeypox were reported in the UK.

In total, nine such cases have been recorded in this country.

Also, the first cases of monkeypox infection were detected in Australia and Canada.

They are recorded in the Australian state of New South Wales and the Canadian province of Quebec.
