In a press release on the preliminary balance sheet for receiving Frankfurt Eintracht after returning from the Europa League final in Seville, the police indicated that players from the European Cup winners were also being investigated.

It involves the use of pyrotechnics.

In the frenzy of the celebrations on the Römerberg and other squares in the city, Bengalos and smoke pots were ignited massively and repeatedly, and sometimes fireworks rockets flew directly into the crowd.

Some Eintracht players also lit flares on the balcony, which were also clearly visible during the TV broadcast.

They did this just at the moment when the police urgently requested the fans to stop the burning with announcements.

The police have documented all this for a subsequent, secure criminal prosecution.

Eintracht board member Axel Hellmann said in a TV interview that he did not necessarily need pyrotechnics and did not approve of the use.

In addition to these incidents, there were events that clouded the balance sheet: According to the police, at the end of the event, emergency services at Paulsplatz were attacked by a larger group of youths seeking violence with glass bottles and tear gas.

Police officers were also injured.

The police then cleared Paulsplatz.

In this context, individual violent criminals were arrested.

Apart from these incidents, the vast majority of the approximately 100,000 Eintracht fans, estimated by the police, behaved peacefully and duly celebrated the historic victory.
