European Cup City Frankfurt.

Shortly after the triumph in Seville, that still sounds pretty unreal.

For a long time it was unthinkable that the heart of European football, let's leave the Champions League aside, now also beats in the city in the heart of Europe.

But therein lies the attraction.

Because if Eintracht wins a trophy, the city is in a state of emergency.

Whether in the subway, at the bakery or at work - Eintracht fans are everywhere, mostly dressed in white, celebrating the almost unbelievable success of their team.

Unlike some series winners, every trophy is celebrated here as if it were the last for a long time.

So it is only logical that the particularly important successes remain permanently visible in the cityscape: A graffiti on the stadium commemorates the club's only German championship in 1959, and since the DFB Cup victory in 2018 a replica of the cup, several meters high, has adorned a house wall in the west end.

The first victory in the European Cup in 1980 is also immortalized on a facade, in Bockenheim Eintracht legend Charly Körbel raises the trophy to the sky.

Unforgotten and so important in its importance is the huge Anthony Yeboah painting in Niederrad, which sends a strong signal against discrimination and racism.

So it will only be a matter of weeks, maybe months, until the magical night of Seville also finds its place in Frankfurt.

A house wall somewhere in the city will then commemorate the moment when Frankfurt became a European Cup city again.
