It was belatedly known that Democratic Party lawmaker Shin Hyun-young helped a man in his 60s who collapsed from myocardial infarction on a KTX train give first aid and transport him to the hospital.

Shin is a family medicine doctor.

An emergency patient occurred on the KTX train that left Seoul Station at around 8:30 in the morning of the 20th and headed for Daejeon Station.

A 68-year-old man collapsed complaining of chest pain, and the crew gave an announcement to find a medical person in the KTX.

Rep. Shin Hyun-young, who was heading to Daejeon to attend the Democratic Party's on-site election committee, was on the train.

Rep. Shin, along with other medical personnel who came to hear her announcement, diagnosed her patient's condition, contacted her guardian, and helped her with emergency treatment.

Recognizing Mr. A's underlying disease, Rep. Shin requested additional announcements and obtained emergency medicine to help her dilate blood vessels, and took the initial measures using it.

Rep. Shin contacted the 119 ambulance and requested that an ambulance be dispatched to Daejeon Station, the fastest drop off point.

Upon arriving at Daejeon Station, Mr. A was transferred to the emergency room of Daejeon St. Mary's Hospital by 119 ambulances.

Shin also accompanied him to the hospital.

It is said that A has passed the emergency situation and the medical staff is monitoring the progress.

Regarding accompanying Mr. A to the hospital, Assemblyman Shin said, "It was necessary to accompany him because there was no guardian and he had seen the patient from the initial response."

Myocardial infarction refers to a disease in which a part of a cardiovascular vessel is acutely blocked by thrombosis or vasospasm, resulting in necrosis of cardiac muscle tissue or cells.

It is known that observing the 'golden time' is very important as the patient may become seriously ill if the initial measures and transport are not properly carried out.

Shin, a former family medicine doctor, has served as a spokesperson for the Korean Medical Association and an international director of the Korean Women's Medical Association.

Rep. Shin, who was elected proportionally 1 by the Citizens' Party in the 21st general election, is currently serving as the spokesperson for the Democratic Party's Emergency Response Committee.
