On the afternoon of the 19th, the National Security Office held a meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) Standing Committee presided over by Kim Seong-han, head of the National Security Office, and checked the preparations for the ROK-US summit.



It was the first NSC held since the inauguration of the Yun Seok-yeol government and the first NSC held at the new National Crisis Management Center under the Yongsan government building, which was converted from an existing Ministry of National Defense bunker.



In a press release after the meeting, the spokesperson's office said, "We reviewed major diplomatic and security issues, including US President Joe Biden's visit to South Korea." .



"The NSC Standing Committee will hold regular meetings to coordinate diplomatic and security issues and response strategies," he added.



Kim Tae-hyo, the first deputy director of the National Security Office, said at a press briefing the day before, "We have prepared Plan B so that, in the event of a North Korean provocation during the summit, the leaders of the Republic of Korea and the United States will immediately enter the ROK-U.S. combined defense posture command and control system."



The meeting was attended by officials from the Ministry of National Security including Kim Seong-han, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Park Jin, Ministry of Unification Kwon Young-se, and Minister of National Defense Lee Jong-seop.
