As an example, last year the first yellow alert for heat was activated on July 2.

In addition, Aemet plans to activate this Thursday,

yellow level warnings for temperatures of up to 38 degrees

in areas of the Andalusian provinces of

Córdoba, Granada, Jaén and Seville

intense waves on the coasts of Almería and Cádiz.

With regard to heat warnings, in Córdoba they are expected in the countryside, in Granada in the Genil basin, in Jaén in the Guadalquivir valley and in Morena and Condado and in Seville in its countryside.

All alerts for high temperatures are activated at 12:00 p.m. and end at 8:00 p.m.

On the other hand, warnings for coastal phenomena are expected on the Cadiz coast and in the Strait of Cadiz from 12:00 p.m. and will last throughout the day.

In both areas, the warnings are expected to remain in place for the rest of the day.

recommendations

When it is very hot, health can be affected, especially in the case of the elderly, the chronically ill or children, and that is why Health recommends protecting yourself from the heat.

You should

stay at home during the hottest hours of the day

and if you have to go out, wear

light colored clothing

and cover your head with a hat or cap.

It also urges you to avoid physical exertion and schedule sports activity first thing in the morning or in the late afternoon.

You have to close the blinds, put down the awnings and take advantage of the coolest hours of the day to ventilate the house.

At the same time, no one, people and pets, should be left in a vehicle exposed to the sun in summer.

It is good to cool off,

to use water to refresh your body

, from wet cloths, showers or bathtubs to baths in the pool or in the designated areas.

If you don't have air conditioning or a cool room in your home, you can find relief in a mall, movie theater, library, museum, or any other cool public place.

You have to stay

well hydrated and take care of your diet

and drink fluids frequently, eat in moderation.

If you are taking a medication, it is a good idea to consult your doctor or pharmacist in case it is necessary to adjust the dose and it is recommended to ask for help from a relative, a neighbor or call your health center if you feel unwell due to the heat.
