Thus, the embassy reacted to the statement of Frank Mora, the nominee for the post of US permanent representative to the OAS, that the “broad coalition” of Latin American states would not allow an early “unfreeze” of Russia’s participation in the organization’s activities. 

“As for the OAS, Russia does not cling to the status in the Organization.

Through the efforts of Washington, this structure has long ceased to be a universal regional platform for the Western Hemisphere, ”the Telegram message says.

The ministry noted that Russia continues to cooperate with Latin American and Caribbean partners.

Earlier, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov called the decision to suspend Russia's status as a permanent observer at the Organization of American States a serious mistake.

In turn, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia called the suspension of Russia's observer status with the OAS a disgrace.
