The Liberal Democratic Party has made recommendations for strengthening food security amid growing concerns about a stable food supply as a result of Russia's military invasion of Ukraine.

For grains that depend on imports, such as wheat and corn, support for a significant increase in domestic production is included.

The impact of Russia's military invasion of Ukraine has hindered the supply of wheat and chemical fertilizers worldwide, and even in Japan, the prices of wheat, corn that feeds livestock, and fertilizers, which have a high proportion of imports, are high. It's soaring.

Under these circumstances, the Liberal Democratic Party has proposed a proposal that includes a break from excessive dependence on imports, saying that the risk of a stable food supply has become apparent.

The plan is to provide drastic support for the effective use of fields and paddy fields and the development of varieties in order to significantly increase domestic production of grains that depend on imports, such as wheat, soybeans, and corn.

In addition, as a measure against agricultural management that has deteriorated due to the depreciation of the yen and a drastic price increase of production materials, we are establishing a new mechanism to mitigate the sharp rise in fertilizer prices.

The Liberal Democratic Party will soon make these recommendations to the government.
