Finnish President Sauli Niinistö and Swedish Prime Minister Joe Biden, who applied for NATO membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, visited the White House on the 19th to meet with US President Joe Biden.

Scandinavian Finland and Sweden have both been military-neutral.

However, the two countries formally applied for NATO on the 18th, saying that Russia's military invasion of Ukraine has fundamentally changed the security environment.

The U.S. government has expressed its intention to work on the early accession of the two countries, and has announced that President Biden will invite Swedish Prime Minister Andeshon and Finnish President Sauli Niinistö to the White House for discussions.

Finland and Sweden's leaders are expected to discuss NATO accession and European security with President Biden as Turkey shows a negative stance over NATO accession.
