China News Service, Beijing, May 19 (Reporter Guo Chaokai Huang Yuqin) Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian hosted a regular press conference on the 19th.

A reporter asked: According to reports, on the 18th, US Deputy Secretary of State and "Special Coordinator for Tibet Affairs" Zeya met with the head of the "Tibetan Government-in-Exile" and some Tibetan representatives in India.

Zeya's office said that Zeya is expected to meet the Dalai Lama on the 19th and visit the Tibetan community in Nepal.

What is China's comment?

Zhao Lijian: The so-called "Tibetan government-in-exile" is an outright separatist political group and an illegal organization that completely violates China's constitution and laws. No country in the world recognizes it.

The 14th Dalai Lama is a political exile in religious guise. He has been engaged in anti-China separatist activities for a long time, trying to separate Tibet from China.

Tibet affairs are purely China's internal affairs, and no foreign forces may interfere.

The establishment of the so-called "special coordinator for Tibet affairs" by the US side is interfering in China's internal affairs. China firmly opposes it and has never recognized it.

The U.S. side should take concrete actions to abide by its commitment to recognize Tibet as part of China and not support "Tibet independence", stop using Tibet-related issues to interfere in China's internal affairs, and must not support the anti-China separatist activities of the Dalai clique.

China will take necessary measures to resolutely defend its sovereignty, security and development interests.
