It was at the end of August last year that the man made his post in a public group on Facebook where, among other things, Sollefteå Hospital's future is discussed.

At the time the post was made, Lena Asplund was still regional councilor and chairman of the health and medical care committee.

According to chamber prosecutor Henrik Wallin's lawsuit to Ångermanland District Court, the information was "such that it could be expected to expose Lena Asplund to the contempt of others".

Now it will be a trial of the whole thing.

- It feels good, says Lena Asplund when SVT reaches her on the phone.

Damages

- For me, it is important that it should be the same tone of conversation on social media as in reality, adds Lena Asplund who has also claimed SEK 5,000 in damages from the man after what happened.

During questioning, the now accused man has admitted the course of events but thus denies that he did anything criminal.

The penalty for libel of the normal degree, which is the question here, is a fine.

Serious libel can result in a fine or imprisonment for up to two years.
