According to information from Europe 1, the fight against cyberattacks will be at the heart of the parade on July 14 in the capital.

For the first time, 76 gendarmes from the command of the gendarmerie in cyberspace (ComCyberGend) will parade on the Champs-Élysées.

This is an illustration of the increased power of the means put in place to fight against cybercrime and computer attacks in the context of the war in Ukraine.

According to information from Europe 1, the fight against the cyber threat will be highlighted during the next July 14 parade in the capital.

A total of 76 gendarmes from the Cyberspace Gendarmerie Command (ComCyberGend) will be honored and will walk down the Champs-Elysées for the first time, alongside other specialized units.

2,500 legal proceedings processed in nine months

“Cyber ​​will have a very good place this year,” confirms a source familiar with the matter.

A place that will also be symbolic since the theme will be, according to information from Europe 1, present even in the logo of July 14 of the 2022 edition. Last year, the parade featured 76 departmental and mobile gendarmes of all ranks in a block of "everyday heroes" created in the context of the pandemic.

The ComCyberGend, created by decree of February 25, 2021, has been operational since August 1.

It is responsible for coordinating and federating the strategy and action of the services specializing in cyber threats of the National Gendarmerie.

According to a report brought to the attention of Europe 1, in the first nine months of its creation, the ComCyberGend handled nearly 2,500 legal proceedings.

On the prevention aspect, 420,000 people were made aware on the Internet, in communities, schools or businesses by ComCyberGend services.

In addition, the experts of General Marc Boget, who heads the entity, have been required 70 times in a judicial context to carry out "high-level" technical acts.

Cyber ​​is "everyone's business"

A time expected to take the lead in the fight against cyber threats in France, the gendarmes did not win their case after an outcry from the police who in turn asserted their technicality and specificity with the Minister of l 'Interior, Gerald Darmanin.

Which finally decided not to assign a single command, believing that cyber was "everyone's business".
