“Over the past day on May 18, 2022, 88 forest fires were extinguished in Russia on an area of ​​4279 hectares,” RIA Novosti reports.

According to Avialesookhrana, there are 97 forest fires in the country on an area of ​​41,866 hectares.

Earlier it became known that the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia sent all employees of the State Fire Supervision Service to check and preventive examinations of settlements subject to the threat of wildfires.

As URA.RU reported, the first forest fires since the beginning of the fire season were recorded in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
