It is specified that from April 1, 2021 to April 1, 2022, the Moscow City Court and district courts of Moscow considered 9,445 petitions for the election of suspects and those accused of criminal offenses as a preventive measure in the form of detention, of which 8,639 were granted.

At the same time, the press service noted that the number of those sent under house arrest has decreased over the year.

So, in 2020-2021, the courts granted 724 out of 829 such requests, and in 2021-2022 - 683 out of 755 received.

Earlier, RT reported that Moscow pre-trial detention centers were overcrowded, those arrested were forced to sleep on the floor, and representatives of the prison administration said that they were forced to issue folding beds and urgently install previously dismantled beds.

According to the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Russian Federation, as of April 1, 2022, 10,510 people were kept in pre-trial detention centers in Moscow with a occupancy limit of 9,150 people.
