French car maker Renault has unveiled a concept car equipped with a fuel cell that generates hydrogen, and the movement to utilize hydrogen is spreading among European car makers.

At an environmental technology event held in Paris on the 19th, Renault unveiled a concept car equipped with a fuel cell and a motor that generate electricity by reacting hydrogen and oxygen.

This car is also equipped with the same battery as an EV = electric vehicle, which means that it can travel a long distance by combining it with a fuel cell.

"Technology that combines EV and hydrogen systems is necessary for long-distance vehicles. We would like to consider cost and infrastructure conditions for practical use," Luca de Meo told NHK. Said.

Hydrogen is said to be the favorite of next-generation energy. In Japan, Toyota and others are developing "hydrogen engine" vehicles that use hydrogen as fuel instead of gasoline, but in Europe, BMW in Germany is a fuel cell vehicle. In addition to the development of SUVs in Japan, the movement to utilize hydrogen is spreading, such as Daimler trucks in Germany and Volvo in Sweden announced mass production plans for trucks equipped with fuel cells.
