On the night of Wednesday to Thursday, in Amiens, in the Somme, an 18-year-old young man was shot dead.
According to a source close to the case, the victim was driving his car.
The victim's 15-year-old cousin was at his side but was not injured, the source told AFP, indicating that the incident took place around 3 a.m.
Known to police for various offenses
According to the same source, at this stage, no one has been arrested and the deceased young man was known to the police for various offences.
The Amiens judicial police were in charge of the investigation.
The Amiens prosecutor's office confirmed in a press release the opening during the night of "a flagrant criminal investigation" following "the death by firearm of a young man".
A magistrate came to the scene and "technical police investigations are underway", added the prosecution, saying that he will communicate "later" on these facts.
