Penalized for not respecting the rent control.

For the first time in Lille since the implementation of the system, the town hall announced on Wednesday that the prefecture had imposed an administrative fine of 9,000 euros on a landlord.

"The city calls for other measures to control state services to be developed in the coming weeks," said the municipality of Lille in a press release.

She recalls "being mobilized very early in favor of two regulations: the freezing of rents on relocation, in force since 2012, and the supervision of rents from the Alur Law".

“Area subject to rent control”

It is true that Lille is recognized as the third most expensive city in France (apart from Paris), which blocks access to housing for low incomes.

“Since April 1, real estate agencies have had the obligation to specify that the accommodation offered for rent is located in a “Zone subject to rent control” with all the regulatory information.

This measure will also apply to all rental advertisements from July 1, ”specifies the town hall.

In addition, tenants have the possibility of directly reporting the non-application of the rent control via the city's website.

About fifty irregular situations have already been specified.
