Two men were tried on Tuesday for uttering threats against the mayor of Lyon, Grégory Doucet, reports

They were sentenced to a suspended fine of 1,000 euros, and will have to pay a symbolic euro in damages to Grégory Doucet.

Both had reacted to the decision of the municipality to impose a single menu without meat in Lyon school canteens, in February 2021. Reasoned decision to facilitate service during the health crisis.

“A bullet between the eyes”

The first, a resident of Bron, wrote in a comment on Facebook "I'll meet you in Lyon, I'll knock you off your bike", with a few insults.

The second, a resident of Eure, had been further on Twitter: "Luckily I don't live in Lyon because my children wouldn't go to your canteens, you would end up with a bullet between your eyes", said he wrote.

Already presented to the Lyon court on February 15, both recognized the “acts of contempt of a person holding public authority”.

"My writings have exceeded my thoughts," said the resident of Eure.
