The civil area manager and an emergency office will be located in Linköping, the County Administrative Board of Östergötland announces.

The news was presented today at a press conference with, among others, Minister of Justice and Foreign Affairs Morgan Johansson (S) and Minister of Civil Affairs Ida Karkainen (S).

The change is part of the comprehensive reforms for a stronger defense that the government, together with MSB and the Stockholm County Administrative Board, have presented.

Southeastern civilian area

The country's 21 county administrative boards are divided into six civilian areas.

Each civilian area consists of between two and seven county administrative boards.

Östergötland, Kalmar and Jönköping will be part of the south-eastern civil area, where the County Administrative Board of Östergötland will be the authority responsible for civil areas and Governor Carl Fredrik Graf will thus be civil area manager from 1 October 2022.

- I welcome the fact that the government is leaving information on the question of how we should strengthen civil defense.

This is an important step forward in order to be able to build a strong civil defense, says Carl Fredrik Graf, Governor of Östergötland in a statement.

Gotland together with Stockholm forms the eastern civilian area.
