The Egyptian Journalists Syndicate launches an award bearing the name of the late Sherine Abu Akleh

The Council of the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate decided to create an award within the Egyptian Press Awards, bearing the name of the late Palestinian journalist, Sherine Abu Akleh.

The award will be devoted to Palestine coverage, to be a new branch within the Egyptian Press Awards.

The Syndicate of Egyptian Journalists, Diaa Rashwan, announced that the Syndicate joined all the steps taken by the Union of Arab Journalists and all concerned organizations in the world to hold the occupying power accountable for its crime, stressing that Abu Aqila blew up a real uprising in the world and in the Arab world.

During the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate's memorial service for the martyr Abu Aqleh, Rashwan promised, at the union's headquarters, in the presence of the ambassador of the State of Palestine to Egypt, its permanent representative to the League of Arab States, Diab al-Louh, the Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and the occupied Arab territories in the Arab League, Said Abu Ali, and the head of the National Council For Human Rights, Moushira Khattab, representatives of unions and human rights organizations and a number of Arab and Egyptian media and journalists, promised not to touch the “graffiti” of the union’s martyrs on the union’s front during any renewals that occur.

He pointed out that a corner will be added at the union's entrance bearing models of the martyrs of the press, including Shireen Abu Akleh.
