• Music 'The neverending story' and the curious story of the singer of its soundtrack

A priori, the name of

Barrett Oliver

(48) does not ring a bell to almost anyone, but if we say that he was the protagonist of

The NeverEnding Story

after

unseating 200 other boys

, things already take on another aspect.

In that fantastic film he gave life to the protagonist,

Bastian Baltasar Bux

, but the most catchy thing in the story was the main theme of the soundtrack,

The Neverending Story, which catapulted

Limahl

(63)

to fame for a while .

Oliver made his acting debut just 40 years ago, in the

Fantastic Car

series .

Despite his success and after having starred in both parts of

Cocoon

he decided to concentrate on his studies

and in 1989 he retired from acting to

pursue photography

from an unusual perspective.

Interested in how early professionals worked during the Victorian era, the former actor thoroughly studied the techniques to apply to his work.

He is an expert

in the primitive use of wet collodion, albumin, salt, silver gelatin, cyanotype, daguerreotype and carbon paper that help him capture the essence of the image just as photographers did

in the 19th century.

He is continually experimenting.

The knowledge of him transmits it to other professionals who want to get away from the influence of

new technologies.

His disappearance from the small and big screen was sudden.

Not an explanation, not a message to his fans...

Nothing!

It was said that he had had

problems with drugs

and that he had even been a member of

Scientology

, but he never denied or confirmed those rumors.

They even thought that he had committed suicide in 2003, when in fact the one who

took his own life

was Jonathan Brandis, the interpreter of the second part of

The Neverending Story.

Barret likes that the legend around him continues to be fed.

He currently

teaches photography

at a university in California, it is unknown if he is married and has children and

his image is radically different

from that of that angelic child.

He sports round glasses, dreadlocks and a 12-inch beard that makes it difficult to recognize him.

He has exhibited

in galleries and has participated with other artists in workshops.
