The squealing tires, the throttle twisted insistently and scooters tumbling down the sidewalks day and night, to the chagrin of the inhabitants.

In Rennes, as in most major cities in France, urban rodeos ruin the lives of some residents.

According to the authorities, these acts "are increasing as soon as the good weather returns".

In an attempt to cool the ardor of urban cowboys, the police and the gendarmerie carried out more than 200 actions throughout western France at the end of last week.

In Ille-et-Vilaine, ten large-scale operations were carried out, particularly in the popular districts of Rennes.

Results of operations in the department: 235 people checked and 35 fines issued.

The police also seized ten scooters or quads.

Two people were arrested during these operations, one of whom was taken into custody.

In France, 118 vehicles were seized.

Since 2018, a law on urban rodeos has been in force.

It provides for a maximum penalty of one year's imprisonment and a fine of 15,000 euros.

After the fire, access is partially prohibited in the forest of Rennes
