The Social Democrats, the Liberals and the Center Party want children and young people aged 3-19 in Västmanland to be offered free vaccination against the tick-borne disease TBE.
The decision in the matter will be made in June this year and if the proposal goes through, the free vaccination will take effect from the turn of the year 2023.
- Västmanland is an area with a high risk of infection.
The cost for an entire family to get vaccinated today is too great and means that many children and young people lack protection, says Lina Eriksson, group leader and regional councilor for the Liberals.
The vaccination is estimated to cost four million kronor a year.
It would be part of the budget for 2023-2025.
- I have no reason to believe anything other than that this budget will go through.
This is an important issue for the children and Västmanland, says Lina Eriksson.
