In December last year, the City Council said yes to the detailed plan.

The plan enables a building with room for 500 inmates, despite the fact that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service has only requested 350 places.

One month after the council's decision, however, an appeal was received from some private individuals, who wanted the detailed plan to be torn up.

Now, however, the Land and Environment Court has rejected the appeal, on the grounds that the complainants do not have their properties close enough to the planning area, and thus have no right of appeal.

The prison in Halltorp is planned to generate 300 jobs.
