The Palestinians denounced calls by the head of the Jewish "Lehava" organization to mobilize settlers to storm the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and start demolishing the Dome of the Rock on Sunday, May 29th.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemned the statements of the head of the "Lehava" Organization, Benzi Gopstein, in which he called for the start of dismantling the Dome of the Rock to make way for the construction of the alleged temple in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry called on the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities, and condemned Gopstein's calls to mobilize settlers massively to storm Al-Aqsa on Sunday, May 29, during the settlers' celebration of the day of the occupation of the eastern part of Jerusalem according to the Hebrew calendar.

For its part, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) denounced these calls, describing them as a dangerous escalation against Islamic identity, values and sanctities.

The movement said, in a statement today, Wednesday, that "the flames that these extremist groups are tampering with will rebound on the leaders of the occupation and its government, and carry with it the vows of their downfall and the demise of their entity."

Hamas called on the masses of the Palestinian people to come to Rabat in Al-Aqsa Mosque, escalate the confrontation against the occupation and confront its dangerous Judaization schemes, according to the statement.

The movement also called on the international community and its institutions to criminalize and prevent these incursions, which it said would have serious repercussions on the entire region, calling on the Arab and Islamic nation to shoulder its historical responsibilities in protecting Al-Aqsa.

The Palestinians also denounced the decision of the Israeli Minister of Internal Security, Omer Bar-Lev, to allow the "flags march" organized by settlers in Jerusalem to commemorate the occupation of the eastern part of the city, in its normal course.

Bar-Lev's decision included allowing settlers access to Bab al-Amud, through the Islamic Quarter in the Old City, and then to the Al-Buraq Wall in Al-Aqsa.

Last year, Israel withdrew from holding the march according to its usual course after the threats of the Palestinian resistance in Gaza and its firing of missiles towards Jerusalem, and as a result of that, the war broke out on the Gaza Strip in May 2021, only to return Israel a month later and under pressure from the extreme right to allow the organizers of the march to hold it according to its path normal.

The settlers' recent calls come in the context of escalating attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque for weeks, which witnessed calls for the so-called "temple groups" to slaughter offerings and scatter their ashes at Al-Aqsa during the Jewish Passover celebrations.

The Palestinians believe that these attacks may be a prelude to implementing the plans for the temporal and spatial division of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

In the Gaza Strip, Islamic Jihad organized today, Wednesday, a mass rally in Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip, on the first anniversary of the Israeli war on Gaza, which the resistance called the battle of the "Sword of Jerusalem."

The Jihad movement stressed that Al-Aqsa Mosque will not remain alone, and that the resistance is determined to continue the battle to defend Jerusalem and change the rules of engagement with the Israeli occupation.

Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad movement, said that it is ready to repel any aggression or foolishness that the enemy may advance.

The spokesman for Saraya al-Quds - in a speech during the festival - confirmed the resistance's ability to fight in Gaza, Jenin, and all the occupied Palestinian cities, and ignite all fronts in one moment, as he put it.
