The man himself posted the video in an open group for truck drivers in November 2019.
On Wednesday, the man was finally brought to justice in Luleå District Court - after the planned trial has been postponed several times due to the corona pandemic.
The man is charged with animal cruelty and, secondarily, violation of the Reindeer Husbandry Act.
He denies any wrongdoing.
"Misjudged situation"
SVT Sápmi and Sameradion were the first to report on the incident two years ago.
The video has been condemned by representatives of the haulage industry, other drivers, the reindeer herding industry and the Sami Parliament.
The driver has subsequently in an SMS to the editorial staff 2019 regretted the incident.
"It may be that I misjudged the situation.
And I apologize for that ", he wrote.
