“The administrative case on the recognition of the Ukrainian paramilitary nationalist association Azov ... as a terrorist organization and the ban on its activities on the territory of the Russian Federation has been scheduled for trial on May 26 in the building of the Supreme Court,” RIA Novosti quoted the Russian Ministry of Justice as saying.

In March 2022, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in an interview with the Italian television company Mediaset, recalled that the West itself did not hesitate to recognize the Ukrainian Azov regiment as neo-Nazis.

In August 2019, members of the US Congress, led by Max Rose, petitioned the State Department to recognize the Ukrainian Azov Volunteer Regiment as a foreign terrorist organization.
