The cargo ship Vega has for many years sailed along the Småland coast and on the Baltic Sea.

With its 600 square meters of sailing area, the ship from Gamleby and Stockholm is a real eye-catcher where it sails past.

But now Vega will target Västervik's port for the last time.

From the Baltic Sea, via the Canary Islands and then the Atlantic, the ship sails to Colombia.

- It's a little sad, but fantastically exciting that Vega will continue to sail as a cargo ship, that's what it was built for, says Ib Bergström, Vegas' outgoing captain and co-owner.

Cargo ship for organic coffee

There, the ship will be used as a frost-free cargo ship for coffee that will be transported in sacks from Colombia to New Jersey for a coffee manufacturer that invests in organic and fair trade coffee.

According to Danielle Dogget, CEO of the company that buys Vega, there is a growing demand for fossil-free transport at sea as well.
