Turkey's guest, Algerian President Abdelaziz Tebboune, affirmed his confidence that Turkish investments in his country will reach $10 billion and more within a short period. This came in a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday, following a meeting they held at the Presidential Complex in the capital, Ankara.

The Turkish and Algerian governments have signed 15 cooperation agreements in a variety of political, security, military, economic and cultural fields, especially in the areas of drones and warships.

The Algerian president said - during a press conference with his Turkish counterpart - that the two sides found an opportunity to develop relations in all fields, especially economic, political and cultural, noting the signing of a series of cooperation agreements on the sidelines of Erdogan's visit to Algeria in 2020, explaining that all fields and sectors have great potential and opportunities. To develop relations between the two countries and establish comprehensive cooperation.

For his part, Erdogan affirmed that the two countries are determined to enhance their "cooperation in the field of defense industries" and explained that the two countries decided to establish a high-level cooperation council to take their relations to a new level, noting that economic and trade relations between Algeria and Ankara are developing day by day.

Erdogan indicated that the volume of trade between the two countries increased by 35 percent, compared to 2020, and reached the level of 4.2 billion dollars.

He added that the two countries set a new target for the volume of trade exchange from $5 billion in 2020, to $10 billion for the coming period.

In this regard, President Tebboune stressed that the two sides hope to see "better results at the meeting of the High-level Cooperation Council next year."

The Algerian president arrived in Turkey yesterday evening on a 3-day working visit in response to an invitation from his Turkish counterpart. January 26 and 27, 2020, immediately after Tebboune's election as President of the Republic.

The two sides also discussed the Libyan file and the position on the political and military developments there, where President Tebboune stressed that the Turkish and Algerian sides have one view that there can be no solution without elections in Libya, and "we are already in the midst of mutual consultations with Turkey on this issue." .

Tebboune also mentioned that they also discussed during the meeting the issue of cooperation in combating terrorism that threatens the Sahel region and Africa.
