According to the El País newspaper, citing a draft document from the European authorities, the European Commission previously reported deep shortcomings in European defense against the backdrop of a worsening security situation in the EU due to events in Ukraine.

At the same time, the EU foreign ministers agreed on the allocation of another €500 million for military assistance to Ukraine. 

According to Borrell, the total amount of EU funds allocated to Kyiv is €2 billion.
