The summer weather will continue for a few more days in France.

Temperatures will increase further to reach in some regions of France 34 degrees and 40 degrees in perceived temperature.

An abnormal situation for a month of May but which is not yet synonymous with a heat wave.

It's a summer air that hovers over the French territory.

For the past few days, the temperatures have been abnormally hot.

The 30 degree mark has been exceeded in the south-west of France.

"It is not a heat dome, like what we experienced, for example, in 2003, when we were neither in anticyclonic conditions, nor in low pressure conditions generating precipitation", specifies Nicolas Le Friant, meteorologist.

"The hot air then came from the Maghreb, and stayed for more than fifteen days over Western Europe and France."

36 to 40 degrees felt in the south of the country

The temperature felt could reach 36 to 40 degrees Wednesday and Friday in the south of the country as explained by Nicolas Le Friant.

"Very hot temperatures are expected tomorrow and the day after. Almost all of France will be under temperatures generally between 28 and 34 degrees, extremely high temperatures for the season."

This situation will last only two days.

"The heat will be interrupted by stormy situations, which we experienced on Sunday and which we will experience from Wednesday, so we are not in a heat wave situation at all", he says.

"We are therefore not at all in a heat wave situation, because the nights are too cool at this time of year and because it would take three days and three nights anyway with heat wave thresholds reached for the we find ourselves in this situation."

10-12 degrees above normal

"We will be 10-12 degrees above normal in certain regions, mainly in the south-west and in the Rhône valley where we will reach 33-34 degrees. But on the northern half, we will have temperatures often between 30 and 32 degrees, especially in Pays de la Loire, Centre, Île-de-France, Champagne-Ardenne, Alsace, Burgundy and Lorraine. , along the coasts of the Channel, because there will be sea breezes which will suffer during the day. The storms will then return from the night of Wednesday to Thursday by the west of the country, putting an end to this heat stroke quite early for the season", he explains.
