A 17-year-old teenager died in a road accident at the exit of Charleville-Mézières (Ardennes), this Friday evening.

According to France 3 Grand Est, the car was driven by a minor of the same age.

He was positive for cocaine.

The passenger was ejected from the vehicle.

He died instantly.

The driver in custody

The driver was examined by a doctor from the Samu before being taken care of by the police, specifies L'Ardennais.

He was placed in police custody for "manslaughter" aggravated by "driving under the influence of narcotics" and a "lack of a driving license".

An investigation has been opened to identify the owner of the car and determine how the two teenagers were able to take possession of it.

The underage driver faces a ten-year prison sentence.
