The National Assembly will begin reviewing the second supplementary budget (additional budget) bill today (16th).

The National Assembly will hold a plenary session for each standing committee after President Yoon Seok-yeol's speech on correction of the supplementary budget plan at 10 am today and propose the supplementary budget bill.

Four standing committees, including the Administrative Safety Committee, Science and Technology Broadcasting and Communications Committee, Environment and Labor Committee, and the Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock, Food, Marine and Fisheries Committee, will hold a plenary meeting and propose an additional budget bill.

The National Assembly is scheduled to enter a general inquiry by the Special Committee on Budget and Settlement on the 19th and 20th after completing the preliminary examination by the Standing Committee on the 17th and 18th.

Previously, the Yun Seok-yeol government held its first ad hoc State Council meeting at the Yongsan Presidential Office on the 12th and voted on a supplementary budget of 36.4 trillion won in terms of central government expenditure and 59.4 trillion won in total including funds for local relocation.

Both the ruling and opposition parties agree on the supplementary budget bill under the pretext of supporting the self-employed and small business owners who have been affected by the corona epidemic, but whether the loss compensation is applied retroactively and errors in estimating tax revenue to raise financial resources are expected to become obstacles in the review process.
