Hungarian Foreign Minister: The country has not received an acceptable proposal from the EU for an oil embargo

He stated that Hungary has the right to wait for proposals from the EU, since the European Commission created a problem for the country with its proposal.

According to him, the EU may offer to finance investments and compensate for the subsequent price increase, "which is necessary for the complete modernization of Hungary's energy infrastructure, which requires €15-18 billion."

Szijjarto considers exclusion of oil supplies via pipelines from the embargo proposed by the EU as one of the possible options.

Earlier, Politico reported that the EU may postpone the embargo on oil from Russia because of Hungary.

Also, German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock expressed confidence that the rejection of Russian oil would be a challenge for many countries.
