Peter Hultqvists says that he has received signals from several countries that they want a quick decision on Sweden's application.

But after several statements from Turkey in recent days, the country has been pointed out as a possible obstacle to Swedish membership.

- We will send a group of officials who will have discussions and have a dialogue with Turkey, then we will see how this issue will be resolved and what the bet here is really about.

But the signals we have received from NATO are that there is an agreement that both Sweden and Finland can enter, says Peter Hultqvist.

The morning of April 11: Hultqvist changes position

Peter Hultqvist has previously been negative about a Swedish NATO membership, but on April 11 at a quarter past eight in the morning, he changes his mind after a period of deliberation.

- I sat with several others and so I thought that now after all this thinking, I have to decide.

I even wrote it down on a piece of paper, that was when I did it, says Peter Hultqvist.

- For a long time I had evaluated different alternatives and come to the conclusion that this is the safest thing to do in the situation that has become.

The war they are waging in Ukraine has changed the whole scenario.
