Emmanuel Macron hesitated for a long time before appointing his successor.

22 days to choose his new Prime Minister, a record under the Fifth Republic.

According to information from the Europe 1 service, he has even changed his mind in recent hours.

Until this weekend, the head of state had planned to appoint Catherine Vautrin to Matignon.

Elisabeth Borne left the Ministry of Labor at the end of the afternoon, then she stayed an hour at the Élysée for a one-on-one interview with Emmanuel Macron.

Once the new Prime Minister left the Palace, her appointment was formalized by a press release from the Élysée.

Just before the arrival of Elisabeth Borne at the Élysée Palace, Jean Castex had brought his resignation in person to the head of state, a year and ten months after being appointed head of government.

The former mayor of Prades will therefore have remained Prime Minister for 682 days.
