According to the indictment, the 80-year-old man poured flammable liquid on or near the woman and then ignited the liquid.
The woman suffered extensive burns to large parts of her body and difficulty breathing.
The woman died on February 19 at a hospital in Uppsala due to general organ failure as a result of the burns.
The prosecutor considers that the act was particularly ruthless as it was directed at a close-knit elderly woman in the shared home.
The man is charged with both murder and arson.
The prosecutor wants the man deported.
