Four men aged 22 to 32 are suspected of having participated in several dozen burglaries in a few months in the south of France.

Based in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, they would have raged in this department, but also in the Var, the Vaucluse and the Bouches-du-Rhône, reports France 3 Provence-Alpes Côte d'Azur, this Saturday.

The gendarmes of the research section of Marseille-PACA and those of the gendarmerie group of the Alpes de Haute Provence identified the group of criminals after a few weeks of investigation.

Stolen cars used for scrap

According to France 3, the defendants allegedly stole cars before using them to commit breakages in tobacconists, optician shops but also in private homes.

Five suspects were arrested last Tuesday and then taken into custody.

During the searches, the soldiers got their hands on long weapons and discovered about sixty plants of cannabis in cultivation.

Four of the alleged thieves have been charged and remanded in custody.
