There are currently around 1,600 NATO troops in Lithuania.

Most arrived at the end of February and when Russia began its invasion of Ukraine, the situation was tense to say the least.

- It came as a bit of a shock, I did not expect it, says the Norwegian NATO soldier Silje who is stationed in Lithuania.

The acute anxiety about an attack has subsided, but the suspicion towards the neighbors in the east is as constant as before.

- You can only expect brutality from Russia.
