The delegation of the Civic Chamber of Russia was not allowed to attend a meeting at the OSCE site

According to RIA Novosti with reference to the OP, the event on the topic "The functioning of democratic institutions during the crisis" was scheduled for May 16-17 in Vienna.

Accreditation applications were submitted in accordance with the requirements of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).

Members of the Russian delegation received confirmation of participation from the organizers.

“On the eve of the event, without explaining the reasons, the organizers decided to cancel the registration of Russian public activists and refuse to admit them to the meeting, referring to some decision of the Polish OSCE Chairmanship-in-Office.

It is especially cynical that the information with the denial of accreditation was sent at the moment when the Russian representatives had already flown to Vienna, ”the Civic Chamber said in a statement.

The corresponding step in Russia was assessed as an attempt to politicize the participation of Russian NGOs in OSCE humanitarian events and an anti-Russian demarche.

The UN General Assembly previously suspended Russia's participation in the Human Rights Council.

Later, Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Gennady Kuzmin said that the Russian side would prematurely terminate its powers in the UNHRC on April 7.
