The party was founded on May 15, 2016 by the current president of Moldova, Maia Sandu, she was also its chairman.

In 2020, Sandu stepped down from this position, with Grosu as acting chairman.

According to Grosu, the country needs a party with people "with a desire for change."

He also said that the party has three key priorities for the next four years: win the local elections in 2023, win the presidential elections in 2024 and win the parliamentary elections in 2025.

These victories will make the process of European integration of Moldova irreversible, he stressed.

Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilitsa became the vice-chairman of the party.

In early March, Maia Sandu announced that the republic was applying to join the European Union.
