The company Nya Ostkustbanan has carried out hard lobbying work to get a hearing for double tracks along the entire Ostkustbanan, but the section between Härnösand and Botniabanans still has about the same quality as when it was built a hundred years ago and double tracks are only along part of the section.

The hope of a deployment are lit and extinguished many times.

Last bid is now the Swedish Transport Administration urges the government to postpone the investment in the railway track along the northern coast of the upcoming infrastructure plan.
