Finland may submit an application to join NATO on May 18, Finnish Foreign Minister Haavisto said in an interview with Sweden's Aftonbladet, according to a report by TASS news agency on May 15.

  On May 14, Finland's ruling Social Democratic Party held a meeting that day and voted to support Finland's membership in NATO.

The Finnish President and the government's ministerial committee on foreign and security policy are expected to consider Finland's "joint" application on the 15th.

The parliament will meet on the 16th to consider the application for "enrollment".
