After several weeks of reflection, Finland officially requests membership of NATO.
This was indicated by the President and the Prime Minister of the Nordic country.
"It's a historic day," Finnish President Sauli Niinistö told reporters.
Finland has taken the decision to apply for membership of NATO, the President and Prime Minister of the Nordic country announced on Sunday, a direct consequence of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
"It's a historic day. A new era is dawning," Finnish President Sauli Niinistö told a news conference.
