A petition against the naming of the Arena at Porte de La Chapelle.

They aspired to call this room built for the 2024 Olympic Games Alice Milliat, feminist activist and pioneer of women's sport.

These elected officials and athletes were overwhelmed when they learned that the city of Paris had chosen the naming and less graceful name of “Adidas – La Chapelle District”.

On the initiative of Nicolas Bonnet Ouladj, president of the communist group in the Council of Paris, a petition was sent to the city of Paris so that the Arena bears the name of Alice Milliat.

“A strong symbol, because it would have been the first Olympic equipment bearing the name of a woman in history”, underline the supporters at the Alice-Milliat Arena.

They continue: “With this petition, we firmly oppose this reversal and ask the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, that the name of Alice Milliat be attributed to this equipment.

Among the signatories, we find the former sports minister Marie-George Buffet, the councilor of Paris (EELV) Alice Coffin or the ex-sprinter European medalist and legislative candidate Ayodelé Ikuesan.
