In a new poem, the Egyptian poet Sultan Ibrahim lamented the colleague Sherine Abu Aqleh, Al-Jazeera correspondent in the occupied territories, who was assassinated by the Israeli occupation forces a few days ago while covering the developments in Jenin camp.
Ibrahim wrote in his poem, The Authentic Girl:
The olive cried and the moan rose ** Tears overflowed and anger raged
over Shireen sobbing the hillocks ** And the bird ’s noah brought him back by the branches Goodbye her
haunted pulse with love ** For the land of Jerusalem overwhelmed by nostalgia
Goodbye her voice filled with sincerity ** Fighting for her cause... Showing clear
truth Reveals tragedies And fires fanned by treachery
here is Al-Aqsa.. Here is Haifa and Jaffa ** And the wound of the Arabs is stifled by the years
here. The authentic girl does not care ** The threat of hostility ** How can
she weave stories from her suffering ** And send them, shaking the silence
and transferring from the pocket of the mother Sabra ** And telling him the martyr of certainty
tells about me
For al-Bariaya ** It bears some of the books of the prisoner
roaming its lands east and west ** On its shores the ships anchor,
and its moon fills the horizons with light ** And the curves and eyes grow in it there, the enemy roars with complaint ** And his rage
fuels hidden hatred
So the bullet shoots towards my chest ** so that wishes and wishes are mixed
. Here, her story has become an anthem ** and her sad homeland is called out in its name.
The poet Sultan Ibrahim is a member of the Egyptian Writers Union, a member of the World Islamic Literature Association, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Arab Narrative Forum, and several publications have been published for him, including Echo of Moaning (a poetry collection) in 2015, and the banks of pain (a collection of poetry) in 2016.
