“Instead of looking for an imaginary threat from Russia, Washington should have reined in its wards in Kyiv, who are openly planning and committing cybersabotage against the Russian Federation,” the diplomatic mission said in a statement.

The embassy admitted that Ukrainian hackers are unlikely to limit themselves to provocations only against Russia and will attempt to “test the strength” of the infrastructure of Western states.

The diplomatic mission also announced Russia's readiness to conduct an equal and non-politicized dialogue with the United States on a wide range of topical issues of information security.

The Russian Embassy in the United States also denied Moscow's involvement in cyber attacks on Ukraine's critical infrastructure.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said earlier that Washington is aware of the activities of Ukrainian hackers, but reports on cyber threats only from Russian citizens.
