Assignment review has been in contact with 26 of the more than 60 Shia Muslim congregations in Sweden.

Through fake identities and hidden cameras, two of SVT's Arabic-speaking employees, a man and a woman, have contacted the Shia Muslim leaders.

The woman has pretended to be in financial distress and said that she sees no other way to solve her situation.

The man has said that his wife is still in her home country in the Middle East and now wants to get married temporarily until she comes to Sweden.

"There are many more than you who want this"

Of the 26 associations, a total of 15 parishioners have offered their help in conducting pleasure marriages, the purpose of which is to make sex halal, ie permitted by Islam.

One of the parishes whose representatives are positive to pleasure marriage is the Al Rassol cultural association in Kungsmarken in Karlskrona - where the request seems to be common.

“There are many more than you who want this.

Are you not having sex already? ”, Is the answer that SVT's reporter gets.

Several measures after the review

The pleasure marriage can be criminal, according to police and judges with whom Assignment Review spoke.

Both for the one who pays and for the imams who marry and thus risk promoting a sex purchase - ie procuring.

Assignment review has met Haider Ibrahim, chairman of the Islamic Shia Communities, who after the interview announces that all associations that have behaved incorrectly get their membership in the Islamic Shia Communities in Sweden frozen immediately.

Their financial contribution is also stopped.

An internal investigation has also been launched, and all religious leaders who have misbehaved are banned from lecturing or participating in Islamic Shia member associations until it is completed.

Prior to publication, Assignment Review has contacted all parish representatives and informed about the survey.

None of those who offered their help to perform so-called pleasure marriages have returned.
