Al-Jazeera news network said that its reporter in the occupied Palestinian territories was martyred this morning, Wednesday, after the occupation forces shot her while covering the storming of Jenin.

In a statement to Al Jazeera Media Network, "In a tragic murder that violates international laws and norms, the Israeli occupation forces, in cold blood, assassinated our reporter, Shireen Abu Aqleh."

The network condemned "the heinous crime through which it is intended to prevent the media from fulfilling its message," and held "the Israeli government and the occupation forces responsible for the killing of the late colleague Shireen."

The network offered its "sincere condolences to the dear family of the deceased Sherine in Palestine and to her extended family around the world," and stressed that it raises "a pledge to prosecute the perpetrators legally, no matter how hard they try to cover up their crime and bring them to justice."

At the same time, Al-Jazeera held "the Israeli authorities responsible for the safety of Al-Jazeera producer Ali Al-Samudi, who was targeted with colleague Shireen by shooting him in the back while covering" while he was undergoing treatment.

Al-Jazeera network called on the international community to condemn the Israeli occupation forces and hold them accountable for deliberately targeting and killing our colleague Shireen Abu Aqleh.

Today, Wednesday, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced the martyrdom of fellow journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh, by the Israeli army, in the northern West Bank.

The ministry said, in a brief statement, "the martyrdom of the journalist, Sherine Abu Aqleh, the correspondent of the Qatari Al-Jazeera channel, as a result of being shot by the Israeli army in the city of Jenin."

And the director of Al-Jazeera office in Palestine quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the shooting by the Israeli occupation forces at Shireen was deliberate and the bullet hit her below the ear in an area not covered by the helmet she was wearing.
