It is about reindeer husbandry rights in the Tärnaby area.

The association Vapsten Lappby, whose members' ancestors have lost the opportunity to exercise their reindeer herding rights, has sued Vapsten Sami village.

Vapsten Sami village members conduct reindeer herding in the area today and are descendants of the reindeer herders who were forcibly relocated by the state in the 1930s from Karesuando.

The trial is resumed - the district court was given a lesson

This is the second time this trial has been held in Lycksele District Court.

The district court ruled that both groups have the right to practice reindeer husbandry within the Vapsten Sami village's area.

The Court of Appeal gave the district court a lesson when it was stated that the district court had interpreted Vapsten Lappby's claiming error.

The Court of Appeal also stated that the district court was impressed by Girjasdomen, which came during the course of this process.

And since the parties have not been notified of this, they have, according to the Court of Appeal, acted in violation of basic procedural principles.

In the clip above, Sameradion's reporter Jörgen Heikki summarizes the process.
